every time a bell rings

blogmas day 24.5!

It's been such a busy day! We've been doing a lot of last minute baking and wrapping presents. After going out to dinner and then to church, we returned home to watch It's A Wonderful Life just like we do every Christmas Eve. I absolutely love this movie! It might just be my favorite Christmas movie of all time. Merry Christmas!

It's already Christmas Eve?! It certainly doesn't feel like tomorrow is Christmas. I recently watched this Christmas video and thought today would be the perfect day to share!

And of course, I will be tracking Santa all evening here.

leave a peppermint stick

blogmas day 23!

In my post a few weeks ago, I wrote about the Peppermint Floats that I make for my family during the Christmas season. I made them at our poker party last month and again tonight while we watched White Christmas. Over the years, I've made my own changes to the recipe. It's a festive and refreshing treat that's very easy to make!

Peppermint Float

2 cups low-fat frozen vanilla yogurt (I use ice cream)
3/4 cup milk
4 tbs. crushed peppermint candy
2 cups crushed ice

on this winter's night

Today, I finally got around to making these cinnamon rolls that I saw on cupcakes and cashmere. The recipe took longer than I expected, and I was definitely exhausted by the time they were finished. If you're going to make them, start early in the day. Other than that, it was fun making everything from scratch! The rolls were so delicious, and I made sure there was plenty of glaze left over!

Instead of my usual Christmas movie tonight, I got together with my best friends for our Christmas celebration. It was so nice hanging out with them! They are literally the best people ever.

A Major Award

blogmas day 21!

A few days ago, I started watching How I Met Your Mother. I had only seen a few episodes before, but now that all the season are on Netflix I decided to start from the beginning. HIMYM is such a funny show, and I love Neil Patrick Harris! I wish I had started watching it sooner! But now I have 6 seasons worth to watch before I head back to school in January :)

Love Actually Is All Around

blogmas day 19!

After a quick trip to target, I am now two presents down and four to go! I will probably end up going out to stores every day this week in order to get everything by Christmas. After my target adventure, I decorated Christmas cookies while I watched Love Actually! Every year my family makes "Santa cookies". We use marshmallows, sprinkles, chocolate chips, red hots, and homemade frosting to turn my mom's flower shaped cookies into little Santa faces. They are so cute, and we look forward to eating them every Christmas! I ended the day with my family watching The Santa Clause!

We finally finished decorating the tree! I think it looks very nice! After decorating, we watched Home Alone. I love this movie, and I think Macaulay Culkin is so good in it! Only six days until Christmas!

Have A Cup Of Cheer

blogmas day 17!

Just like I mentioned here, my mom makes the BEST christmas cookies. My family eats them up so quickly that you have to get them early or else you miss out. Tonight, my mom rolled out the homemade dough just like she does every year and cut out bell and tree shapes. I decorated them with red and green sprinkles while we watched a Christmas special. I can't wait to eat them!

The Lights On My Tree

blogmas day 16!

I finally watched the Glee Christmas episode, and I thought it was amazing! Maybe not quite as good as last season's Christmas episode, but pretty close. I will definitely be watching that episode again! Tomorrow, I will be joining all of the crazy last minute shoppers at the stores. I have only one week to start and finish my Christmas shopping. Wish me luck!

blogmas day 15!

Tonight I went to the Christmas concert at my high school! It was definitely weird being back, but it was fun to see my little brother on stage. The songs were very good, and I could tell they worked hard on them. The auditorium was decorated for Christmas with trees and lights just like I remember it. Watching the concert and listening to all of the songs really made me miss being a part of choir! After the concert, I was able to see a lot of old friends that came back from school, and it was so nice catching up with them!

I'll Be Home For Christmas

blogmas day 13!

I'm officially done with my first semester of college! It feels so good to be done and at home with my family. Right now I'm sitting on the couch with my huge, warm blanket. I'm watching one of those cheesy Hallmark original Christmas movies while sipping my favorite peppermint mocha drink from Starbucks. It's the perfect way to spend my first night back at home! I'm looking forward to a nice long break, and I can't wait for my friends to come home!

Dressed In Holiday Style

blogmas day 12!

DIY Christmas decoration time! Just like the centerpiece that I posted about here, I also made these frosted candle holders last Christmas. I bought the two glass holders for about a dollar each at Joann's and used silver glitter glue that I already had at home. With a Q-tip, I applied the glitter starting at the bottom and faded it as I went up. To finish them off, I placed a red tea light candle in each holder. This was super easy, and took me about 15 minutes to complete! Try it!

The Joys Of Laughter

blogmas day 11!

Study, study, study, study. And then study some more.

As a reward for my crazy studying, I was able to go out with my cousins for a girls night! We all dressed up and went to Bravo for dinner. The food was so good! The restaurant looked really nice with all of the decorations, and they even played some Christmas music! Later, my aunt surprised each of us with cute, little picture ornaments. So nice!

And now I go back to studying!

Let Your Heart Be Light

blogmas day 9!

The past two weeks have been super busy, so my roommate and I haven't had much time to decorate for Christmas. I've seen some really creative ideas around campus like decorating doors with ribbon or wrapping paper and hanging paper snowflakes around the room. I wish we could have done more in our own room, but there just wasn't enough time! Here's what we have:

A few days ago, I received a 'finals care package' from my parents! It was so nice and unexpected! It's the perfect thing to get me through this next week of studying and exams!

All Is Calm

blogmas day 6!

Over the years, I've compiled a large playlist of Christmas music. Some classics, and some recent covers. Rarely do I find a Christmas album that I love every single song and can listen to the album the entire way through. Here are some of my favorite Christmas albums out there:

Christmas Portrait - The Carpenters
Glee: The Music - The Christmas Album - Glee Cast
Christmas Is The Time To Say I Love You - Katharine McPhee
A Merry Little Christmas - Lady Antebellum
Christmas - Michael Bublé
Let It Snow, Baby...Let It Reindeer - Relient K
Music From The OC: Mix 3 - Have A Very Merry Chrismukkah - Various Artists

And I just want to say that Adele needs to record a Christmas album!

For some non-Christmas related news, the very talented Cimorelli just released their EP on iTunes! In my opinion, the best songs they have done are their Coming Home mashup and Skyscraper cover. Check them out!

Bringing Good Cheer

blogmas day 5!

DIY Christmas decoration time! Last year, I made this festive centerpiece for our decorations, and it went over really well. I got all of the supplies for about $10 at Joann's, and it took me only a few minutes to put it all together. I used two different evergreen pieces, some flower arrangement accessories, and a gold candle. Try it!

Merry And Bright

blogmas day 4!

Every Christmas season, I light my cinnamon & clove buds candle from Bath & Body Works. It smells like Christmas in a candle, and it is definitely my favorite holiday scent from the store! It's so nice to sit down with a lit candle and relax. During a recent trip to the mall, I was able to stock up on the large cinnamon & clove buds candles! The scent will always remind me of Christmas, no matter where I am.
