Before the Storm

Every Memorial & Labor Day weekend, my dad’s side of the family gathers for a picnic. The tradition has been going on since long before my parents were married, and I hope it continues for many more years. Last night around 1:00 a.m., I made some oatmeal butterscotch cookies. My relatives always look forward to them, and I love baking them for everyone! Just like every year, there were many volleyball games played, and we ended with a big game of baseball. Even though I am not athletic at all and usually only watch from the side, I still enjoy the tradition of volleyball and baseball. Unfortunately, our picnic ended a few hours early due to the severe thunderstorm warnings. We quickly packed up our things and headed to the cars just as the tornado siren started. Within an hour, the weather cleared up. This is normal Michigan weather.
